Crugmeer
Where's Crugmeer?
(Thanks multimap.com ®2007)
How do you get there?
Travel to Padstow, Cornwall and find your way to the B3276 road heading
south towards St. Merryn. About a half-kilometre outside of Padstow a
narrow lane leads off to the right (heading north to Padstow, turn
left!), first to Trethillick (site of an ancient church), then another
half-kilometre or so is Crugmeer. We recommend parking in Padstow and
taking the footpath as it is a spectacular walk. The nearest train
station is Bodmin Parkway and the nearest airport in Newquay.
When to go?
Hmmm, we recommend the "off" tourist season and whenever the wind is a
bit calmer...since neither seems to be in a lull these days, come
anytime!
Who lives there?
Well, there's folks in Great Crugmeer House, Path Cottage...yes, its
not
totally "second-home" owners, and contrary to popular belief, its a
real community where the "incomers" care a lot about the folks who live
in Crugmeer full-time. "Ich bein Crugmeer...baby!"
What is there to do in Crugmeer?
Nothing. Absolutely nothing, which is why its so brilliant. Just stare
at the sun, sea and sky...and the stars at night. No light pollution
here.
Why come to Crugmeer?
Because its not developed..yet. See Rock, Cornwall...go to Rock, face
the south, look into the distant horizion above Padstow. See Crugmeer.
See no development. Come to Crugmeer...but be very, very quiet.
